Roadrunners Earn NSCAA Team Academic Award
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The CSUB Women’s Soccer team was awarded a Team Academic Award for the 2009–10 academic year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, it was announced on Wednesday.
The Roadrunners earned a team grade point average of 3.21, making them the only Division I California State University program to garner the nod. In addition to being the only CSU Division I program to be honored, the 3.21 GPA earned by the ’Runners set the mark as the highest grade point average of all CSU programs, regardless of division.
Notorious for taking care of business in the classroom at the Division II level, this marks the second consecutive year CSUB has earned an academic award while competing at the Division I level, as the 2008–09 squad was honored with the same award.
Head coach Nicole Van Dyke is more than pleased with her teams continued efforts with its academics.“I am extremely proud of the team for their commitment in the classroom,” Van Dyke said. “The schedule of a student–athlete can be grueling and for this team to consistently garner academic awards is a true testament as to the priority of academics here at CSUB.”
The NSCAA Team Academic Award is awarded to NCAA teams across all three divisions for earning a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Yosemite - Half Dome Hike
'Im not afraid' the new song by Eminem seemed to be the theme of our hiking adventure at Yosemite National Park, as we sang it along the entire trek up the rock. Last Thursday, Coach Nicole, Asst. Coach Mel, and Seniors: Ngo, Tucker, Faith, and Tara made the 21 mile, 12 hour hike to the top of Half Dome and back. From gorgeous waterfalls, to stairs and cables, to a 4 mile run down the mountain, and a brisk dip in the river; the hike proved to be demanding, scary, and one of the most incredible things any of us have ever accomplished!
